An Army family that is facing its sixth deployment got a real surprise while on vacation in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., this spring.

The family was in the Smoky Mountains resort town at the invitation of the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism and cable TV’s Great American Country, and members knew they would get to meet Dolly Parton.

What they didn’t know was that they were going to be in the parade, too, on their very own float.

The whole story is told in a half-hour special, “Operation Pigeon Forge: A Family’s Story.” It gets its first airing July 12 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern. There will be 11 more airings on GAC before July ends. Check it out.
